Brāv Aims to Provide Trauma Therapy to Victims of Child Abuse and Neglect
Brav Lift is a proposed non-profit organization (working on forming the 501-C3) affiliated with Brav aimed at providing trauma therapy to children who pass through family courts because of abuse and neglect. Sometimes abandonment is involved in these cases. We are also lobbying to get a bill passed that encompasses the rights of children. Children are not treated fairly in the justice system and are seen as little adults rather than what is akin to their mental development. All children have been born with the inherent right to be protected by the law and to not be harmed in any physical or emotional way. Platform: Using psychologists and support staff trained in trauma counseling to work with the courts, CPS, and the foster care systems. Just as a child is appointed a guardian ad litem, Brav Lift would appoint a therapist. Brav trains anyone in conflict management strategy. These Brav Ones in turn help manage the Conflict managers, who are unknown to any and all parties, called Brav Ones, are ordinary people like you, trained through our virtual games to manage issues amongst others. During a session, parties, together with the aid of a Brav One, discuss specific disputed issues in order to develop options, consider alternatives, and reach a consensual agreement which assists all parties’ needs. Dr. V. Paul-Constantin and Team Opens CW Educational and Behavioral Center
Dr. Vincentia Paul-Constantin, Director & Ms. Jessica B. Whyte, Asst Director, & their team will bring home The CW Educational & Behavioral Center to offer services to promote emotional & behavioral health while reducing the stigma of mental illness, antisocial behavior in adolescents, & the prevalence of mental illness in the Virgin Islands. Dr. Paul-Constantin, raised in the Virgin Islands & with a PhD degree in Education & a Master's degree in Special Education & Counseling, will spearhead the Center along with Ms Whyte, National Board Certified with a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. The team: * Dr. Sherida Habersham is an Educational Psychologist, with a PhD in Educational Psychology & Computer Information Systems, has a broad range of expertise working in higher education & organizational training. Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Habersham served as quality systems administrator where she was a member of the internal audit team. * Ms Gaétane Borders, School Psychologist, has 20+ years of experience working in the educational system. Ms Borders Expertly trained in psycho-educational & neuropsychological assessments. * Dr. Jionel Pierre, a 15-yr. veteran in Special Education Law Expert & a native of Brooklyn, New York, is an educational expert in special ed., special ed. law, gifted education, & educational leadership. We regret that, since the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, our studio and related technology have been down. Our intentions were to keep you posted on our status. That, unfortunately, has not occurred until now, Sept. 5, 2018. During the recovery process, I have been functioning as a Crisis Counselor, in a local nonprofit agency, funded by The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Most recently yours truly was promoted to Crisis Counselor Lead. This podcast will remain on hiatus until further notice.
