Inspire Me Corner: “Being single isn’t the cause of loneliness, and marriage is not the cure. There are many lonely married people as well” – Unknown
Singleness does not mean you are lonely. For so many, we have yet to master being okay with ourselves. In this episode that I am honest with you my listeners about my own struggle with being with myself.
Loneliness is a mental or emotional phenomenon that has at its base a powerful emotion. Many find loneliness from abandonment, if only for a short time. Whenever we are reminded of that feeling we get a twinge of that distress and now we confuse it with abandonment or loss.
Things to consider:
Realize that loneliness is a feeling, not a fact. This is something that been triggered by a feeling, it’s good to understand why?
Reach out. Withdrawing yourself is how you fall into a deep depression. Find accountability or therapy.
Notice your thoughts. Take note of the moments that cause you to feel the way you during those moments.
Focus on the needs and feelings of others. Being engaged with your friends helps build strong emotional bonds to keep you from being isolated.
