Radio Marc Bloch

En juin 2026, l’historien et résistant Marc Bloch (1886-1944) entre au Panthéon. Dans le sillon de cette reconnaissance de la patrie à ses grands hommes et femmes, le Centre Marc Bloch organise un cycle de manifestations, notamment radiophoniques.  A partir de janvier 2026, Radio Marc Bloch propose ainsi une série spéciale de podcasts "Marc Bloch au Panthéon ! "

Cette série donne la parole à différent.e.s héritier.e.s et lecteurs/-trices de Marc Bloch — acteurs/-trices institutionnel.le.s de la coopération franco-allemande, chercheur·es et historien·nes, membres de la famille de Marc Bloch, mais aussi lycéen·nes et enseignant·es français·es et allemand·es ou artiste— autour de quelques questions communes sur leur rapport à Marc Bloch comme sur le sens qu'ils et elles donnent à cette panthéonisation.

Pour ouvrir cette série, Radio Marc Bloch a tendu le micro à Jay Rowell, sociologue et directeur du Centre Marc Bloch.

Le 28 octobre dernier, le Centre Marc Bloch avait l’honneur de recevoir Jean-Pierre Filiu pour une présentation de son livre Un historien à Gaza, à l’occasion de la parution de sa traduction allemande.

Dans ce nouvel épisode de Radio Marc Bloch, Esther Möller, professeure d’histoire globale et ancienne directrice adjointe du Centre Marc Bloch, s’entretient avec Jean-Pierre Filiu autour de ce témoignage unique. Fruit d’une enquête de terrain menée entre décembre 2024 et janvier 2025, ce livre donne la parole aux habitants de Gaza, révélant leur résistance quotidienne pour la survie et la dignité, dans un territoire coupé du monde. L’échange aborde les conditions exceptionnelles de rédaction du livre et d'accès au terrain, la réalité d’un peuple abandonné, ainsi que la particularité de cette publication dans le contexte allemand. 

Jean-Pierre Filiu, professeur d’histoire du Moyen-Orient à Sciences Po Paris et spécialiste de la région depuis 1980, offre une analyse à la fois historique et humaine de la situation à Gaza, nourrie par des décennies d’observation et d’engagement.

In dieser Folge, moderiert von Esther Möller, diskutieren Fabian Weber und Nur Yasemin Ural über die Politisierung von Fleisch in historischer und aktueller Perspektive.

Fabian Weber, Historiker für jüdische Geschichte, beleuchtet das rituelle Schlachten aus einer historischen und transnationalen Perspektive und macht deutlich, dass auch hier bis heute Vorstellungen von Zugehörigkeit und Differenz ausgehandelt werde.
Die Soziologin Nur Yasemin Ural zeigt am Beispiel von Schweinefleisch, wie Fleisch zu einem affektgeladenen Thema wird, das religiöse Differenz – insbesondere die ‚muslimische Frage‘ – markiert und die Grenzen liberal-demokratischer Bürgerschaft verhandelt.

Beide Wissenschaftler*innen betonen, wie wichtig es ist, die Perspektive der jeweils anderen Tradition einzubeziehen, um die eigene Forschung wirklich verstehen zu können.

In the years immediately following the Second World War, European societies were confronted with a difficult question: how to show and explain the violence and destruction of Nazi occupation to a public still living among its ruins. One response came through a series of exhibitions created between 1945 and 1948 across Europe, often by survivors themselves. These exhibitions documented Nazi crimes and resistance using images, objects, and personal testimonies. They were not only about remembering, but also about shaping the political and moral foundations of postwar democracy.

The current exhibition On Displaying Violence at the Deutsches Historisches Museum revisits these early attempts to represent violence and asks how exhibitions became tools for rebuilding societies.

To explore these questions, Fabien Théofilakis, historian and deputy director of the Centre Marc Bloch, welcomes two of the curators of the exhibition at the German Historical Museum:

Agata Pietrasik is an art historian and Alfred Landecker Lecturer at Freie Universität Berlin, and the curator of On Displaying Violence at the DHM.

Maciej Gugała is a research associate at the Deutsches Historisches Museum and an art historian who contributed to the exhibition’s development.
