American forces have now hit more than 3,000 targets across Iran, according to U.S. Central Command in an update seven days into the fighting. President Trump spoke by phone with CNN's Dana Bash today, telling her that he must be involved in picking a new leader for Iran, and saying  "It’s gonna work very easily. It’s going to work like it did in Venezuela."

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signaled that the war with Iran will soon escalate, saying quote "we have just begun."
