Today, that history is preserved at the Glore Psychiatric Museum. Exhibits document the practices, tools, and realities of life inside the institution—but for many visitors and staff, the experience goes beyond what’s on display.
Reports of shadow figures appearing in doorways, voices calling from empty rooms, and an unshakable sense of being watched have become part of the museum’s reputation. Electronic voice phenomena have captured unsettling messages, and some believe whatever energy was tied to the original facility may have followed when the collection was relocated.

What remains, however, may be more than just history.
Today, New Harmony carries a reputation for widespread paranormal activity, with reports spanning nearly every corner of the town. From old inns to quiet streets and historic buildings, visitors and investigators alike have described encounters with figures who seem unwilling to leave. Some appear peaceful. Others feel far less welcoming.
There’s a sense that whatever was left unfinished here still lingers—whether it’s a desire to guide, a need to be heard, or something rooted in disappointment.
New Harmony was built in pursuit of perfection. But for some, that pursuit may never have ended.

He had stayed at his sister’s house plenty of times without ever thinking twice about it. The basement wasn’t exactly comfortable, but it was usable—and the first night there was completely normal.
The second night was different.
