Whyte v Franklin: The preview
Steve records the pod from the press conference ahead of Dillian Whyte's heavyweight bout against Jermaine Franklin this weekend at Wembley. After a scuffle during the head-to-head, Steve speaks to a tetchy Dillian Whyte and promoter Eddie Hearn who witnessed the fracas close up. Jermaine Franklin and his promoter Dmitry Salita also join Steve, as do Fabio Wardley and Nathan Gorman who are fighting for the British Heavyweight title. And ahead of the other big fight of the weekend at the O2, John Ryder and Zach Parker look ahead to their bout. This episode does contain some bad language that has been bleeped out.
Whyte on Fury, Franklin and the future
Steve sits down with Dillian Whyte ahead of his fight against Jermaine Franklin this weekend. They chat about that defeat to Fury, how it still hurts and how he is enjoying life under new trainer Buddy McGirt. Shane McGuigan joins Steve for the duration to look ahead to that fight, and discuss the Zach Parker-John Ryder fight at the O2. And young British prospect Adam Azim joins the pod ahead of his fight on Sunday.
An extraordinary weekend of fighting
Richie Woodhall joins Steve to look back a busy few nights of boxing. They hear from Natasha Jonas after she won her third belt of the year in Manchester and discuss what her options are for 2023. Sunny Edwards made the third defence of his world title and Richie recalls how good he was when he was part of the GB set up. And despite losing in Las Vegas, there is a lot of praise for Denzel Bentley. They also chat about Montana Loves’ disqualification for pushing Steve Spark out of the ring in Baltimore and whether the referee made the right decision.
Jonas, Hatton and Gallagher’s man bag
Promoter Ben Shalom joins Steve to look ahead to a big night of boxing in Manchester this weekend. Natasha Jonas and her trainer Joe Gallagher are on the pod as she hopes to add another title to her collection against the Canadian Marie-Eve Dicaire. As well as also hearing from Dicaire, Steve chats to Dalton Smith who defends his British super-lightweight title against Kaisee Benjamin. And Ricky Hatton pops over for a chat as he fights Marco Antonio Barrerain an exhibition on the same night.
