What happens when reality itself becomes unreliable, and the very fabric of existence begins to unravel before our eyes? "And When the Sky Was Opened" follows three test pilots who return from a space mission, only to discover they're being systematically erased from existence—vanishing one by one as if they never existed, with all memory and evidence of them disappearing. "The Arrival" presents an FAA investigator examining a mysterious airliner that appears at an airport with no passengers, crew, or records, only to realize the plane itself may not truly exist. Both episodes explore the terrifying concept of questioning reality and identity, examining how fragile our sense of existence really is. They share themes of isolation, the unreliability of memory and perception, and the horror of facing a universe where your very being can be called into question, leaving viewers wondering what defines reality itself. We had a great time discussing these episodes, sharing our thoughts about the conclusions and mysteries of each, the performances of the cast, and the choices made by the director. • Call of the Sea
What mysteries lie beneath the waves, and can a journey across the sea bridge the gap between life and death? This month we take a look at two season 4 episodes that proclaim the mystery, intrigue, and uncertainty of the sea. Are you brave enough to dive into two of The Twilight Zone's most haunting maritime tales? In "The Thirty-Fathom Grave," a U.S. Navy ship discovers mysterious tapping sounds coming from a sunken submarine. Chief Bell becomes increasingly disturbed by the sounds, experiencing visions of his old crew members. It's revealed he was the sole survivor of that submarine's sinking in WWII, and the ghostly tapping represents his guilt-ridden past catching up with him. "Passage on the Lady Anne" follows a troubled married couple who book passage on an old ocean liner. They discover all other passengers are elderly and oddly content. The couple leaves the ship before realizing it was destined for a supernatural journey between life and death, taking its elderly passengers to their final destination. Set sail with us as we explore these spine-tingling episodes where the ocean becomes more than just endless waves - it's a gateway between worlds. From the haunting echoes of a World War II submarine to a mysterious final voyage on an aging ocean liner, these stories will make you question what lies in the deepest fathoms of both the sea and human consciousness. These episodes promise to leave you wondering about the true nature of guilt, redemption, and the thin line between this world and the next.   News Items: Serlingfest 2025 Rod Serling documentary to be teased at Serlingfest Connect with Entering the Fifth Dimension: Facebook community Follow us on Twitter Contribute Listener Feedback

  • Fountain of Youth
Can anyone truly outrun time itself, and what dark bargains might immortality demand? In "Long Live Walter Jameson," a history professor's uncanny knowledge of historical events draws suspicion from his colleague. The truth reveals he's actually centuries old, having gained immortality through an alchemist's intervention. His past catches up with him when an aged former wife discovers his engagement to a young student, leading to his dramatic aging and death. "Queen of the Nile" follows a reporter investigating an ageless actress who mysteriously maintains her youth. He discovers she's actually an ancient Egyptian queen who uses a scarab to drain others' life forces to maintain her immortality. The reporter becomes her latest victim in her endless quest for eternal youth. This month these episodes lead us to explore the price of immortality and the moral consequences of achieving eternal life through supernatural means as they share themes of time, aging, and the ultimate price paid for attempting to cheat death.   News Items: Serlingfest 2025 New Twilight Zone Comics coming this fall Is a new Twilight Zone movie coming our way? • Face Off
What price would you pay to change your appearance, and what happens when the power to transform yourself becomes a curse? This month we look at two epsodes where identity and the consequences of changing one's appearance take center stage. They explore themes of conformity, individuality, and the dangerous allure of being able to become someone else – whether by choice or societal pressure. In "The Four of Us Are Dying," Arch Hammer is a con man with the ability to change his face to look like anyone he's seen. He uses this gift to impersonate various men for personal gain, including a dead musician, a boxer, and a gangster. His schemes ultimately lead to his death when he takes on the wrong identity at the wrong time. "Number 12 Looks Just Like You" takes place in a future where everyone undergoes a "transformation" at age 19 to become beautiful, choosing from a limited number of approved models. Young Marilyn desperately resists this conformity but eventually submits to the procedure, losing her individuality in the process. • Come to Life
When the lines are blurred between the animate and inanimate, suspenseful and thrilling things happen within the sandbox of the Twilight Zone. This month we explore "The After Hours" and "The New Exhibit" which present stories with characters whose reality isn't what it seems, leading to shocking revelations about their true nature. In "The After Hours," Marsha White visits a department store to buy a gold thimble but is taken to an empty ninth floor that doesn't exist. After strange encounters with an oddly familiar saleswoman, she discovers she's actually a mannequin who's been on her month of being human, and must return to her mannequin form. "The New Exhibit" centers on Martin Senescu, a wax museum caretaker who becomes obsessed with protecting murderers' wax figures when the museum closes. He takes them home, where mysterious deaths begin occurring. In the end, it's revealed the figures are actually killing people, and Martin becomes their final victim.
