Trust Me: The False Profit | Serial Streamers TV Club

    22/06/2026 | 19 min
In this episode of Serial Streamers Jami walks listeners through the 2026 Netflix documentary series, Trust Me: The False Profit. From 2019 to 2022, Samuel Bateman led a breakaway polygamist FLDS sect in the aftermath of Warren Jeff’s imprisonment. The sect of loyal Warren Jeffs followers were struggling and vulnerable when Bateman showed up in their Short Creek community, near the border of Arizona and Utah. Bateman declared himself the successor of Warren Jeffs and used religious authority to control his followers and sexually abuse minors. In 2016, Christine Marie, a survivor of abuse by a religious cult leader, ingratiated herself to the Short Creek FLDS community. She, along with her partner, Tolga Katas, began gathering evidence that would ultimately lead to Bateman’s arrest, conviction and imprisonment.

Nancy Campbell: "A Mood That Led to Murder" | MURDERISH Ep. 213

    15/06/2026 | 52 min
In the 1990s and early 2000s, trash daytime TV was in its heyday. Shows like Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones, and the notoriously scandalous Jerry Springer were a guilty pleasure for anyone craving peak drama.  Guests on these shows were encouraged to be loud, explosive, obscene, shocking, and even physically violent. The more over-the-top they were, the better the ratings. The Jerry Springer Show, which made its debut in 1991, featured themes that were among the most controversial. From white supremacists to eccentrics married to farm animals, watching Jerry Springer was like seeing a tabloid magazine come to life. Christian advocacy groups and media watchdogs claimed the show was destroying America. Maybe Jerry Springer marked the end of a more wholesome era of television, but it wasn’t as serious as life or death. Except it was for 52-year-old Nancy Campbell. In July 2000 Nancy was murdered in her home not long after appearing as a guest on The Jerry Springer Show.

Jasveen Sangha: "The Ketamine Queen" | MURDERISH Ep. 212

    08/06/2026 | 38 min
Jasveen Sangha was seated at the breakfast table the morning of October 29th, 2023, when a headline flashed across the TV that would turn her glamorous world of privilege upside-down, Former “Friends” star Matthew Perry found dead at his Pacific Palisades home.

A lump formed in her throat. Only days before she’d supplied someone connected to the actor 25 vials of liquid ketamine, enough to comatose an African elephant. She typed in a quick Google search: “Can ketamine be blamed for causing death?”

Any hope she had that the story would simply fade away was quickly dashed. Despite his well-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, Perry, 54, was still worth millions and a legion of “Friends” fans demanded to know who was responsible for giving “Chandler” his fatal dose.

In the months that followed, police arrested five individuals for having a hand in Perry’s tragic demise. It wasn’t a set of the usual suspects. Two physicians, a rehab counselor, the actor’s live-in assistant, and an international, jet-setting socialite authorities dubbed “The Ketamine Queen” were among those arrested in connection with Perry’s death.

Best of MURDERISH: Ep.175 Doug Benefield: “Black Swan Murder or Self Defense?”

    27/05/2026 | 42 min
In August 2016, 24-year-old Ashley Byers and 54-year-old Doug Benefield got married just 13 days after meeting. To a hopeless romantic, a whirlwind romance can seem like a dream. From a more practical standpoint, marrying someone you barely know can be perceived as impulsive and reckless. People close to the couple wondered - how well can you know someone in such a short span of time? In this case, it’s not clear whether Doug and Ashley’s rushed nuptials had anything to do with the relationship’s tragic end. And to this day, there remains much debate over the reasons why one of them would end up dead.
