Tokyo Joshi Pro-Wrestling will run the famous Ryogoku Kokugikan on March 29th when they bring their Grand Princess 26’ show live to WRESTLEUNIVERSE. The card is stacked, with MIRAI defending her International Princess Championship against Suzume, The IInspiration looking to dethrone Ober Eats for the Princess Tag Team Championships, Sareee teaming with Lei Ying Lee against Miyu Yamashita and Arisu Endo and so much more.
Shoko Nakajima is one of TJPW’s most tenured competitors and is a two time Princess of Princess Champion. She’s also branches out onto the international circuit, until recently holding MLW’s Women’s World Featherweight title and is one of the company’s most endearing characters. We were lucky enough to catch a few words with the Big Kaiju during the company’s tour of Texas, and ahead of what is sure to be an incredible show in Sumo Hall.
Q: You have wrestled quite a bit in the United States the last few years. Is there a city or arena that is your favourite, and what opponents have been your favourite while on those shows?
A. I have many memorable cities. Las Vegas during WrestleMania Week, MLW, and the TJPW Texas tour, among others. In particular, the singles match against Miu Watanabe in Texas during the summer received a huge response. Most recently, the title match against Shotzi in MLW was also very memorable.
Q: TJPW is doing shows this year in the United States, Canada and Italy. What other countries in the future would you like to see TJPW have shows in?
A: Mexico. Not just for the matches, but I think it would be so much fun to just walk around the city with my TJPW comrades.
Q: TJPW is growing quite a bit in Japan and the company has great buzz. Do you think it’s possible that we’ll see TJPW run bigger venues like Nippon Budokan in the future?
A: I definitely think it is possible. I believe the Nippon Budokan is a place we will reach while I am still active in my career.
Q: You have had some amazing matches what are some o your favorites?
A: It would be when I won the tag team championships for the first time with Kyoraku Kyomei. And also the title defenses that followed.
Q: At Grand Princess in Sumo Hall you’ll be across the ring from the legend that is Aja Kong. What does it mean to you to be on such a big show in a legendary venue in a match with Aja?
A: When Kyoraku Kyomei faced Aja Kong and Max the Impaler at Sumo Hall a few years ago, that was the exact moment I truly experienced the massive scale of Aja-san. Last time, I was completely overwhelmed, so this time, I want to clash with her and make sure I’m not defeated by that same sense of scale.
Q: You are known as the Big Kaiju, but who is your favourite Kaiju?
A: My favorite is Anguirus from the Godzilla series. He’s a bit of an understated character, but he is a very kind-hearted Kaiju.
