  • Making cycling more diverse
Eleanor Oldroyd is joined by a plethora of guests to look at the lack of diversity in one of the traditional Olympic sports – cycling. Dr Marlon Moncrieffe, who has written extensively on the subject of black cyclists in Britain, joins Eleanor as they speak to people who are changing the face of the sport. We hear from triple Paralympic cycling gold medallist Kadeena Cox and Women’s UCI professional cyclist Teniel Campbell. We get a grassroots perspective from Women of Colour Cycling Collective coach Alison Wood, and British Cycling’s delivery director Dani Every. Plus Aimee Fuller takes a trip to Lee Valley Velo Park to find out about a new initiative aimed at getting more children from diverse backgrounds on bikes.
  • Elaine Thompson-Herah
The fastest woman alive. Three Olympic golds. An Olympic record. What a 2021 for Elaine Thompson-Herah. She chats to Jeanette Kwakye and Darren Campbell about the past twelve months, chasing down the women's 100m world record that's lasted for 33 years, what it felt like on that start line in Tokyo and why Jamaicans are so dominant in sprinting.
  • Breakthrough Olympic sports
Eleanor Oldroyd is at City Bloc Climbing Wall Leeds to look in depth at the new Olympic sports from climbing to surfing to skateboarding. British snowboarder Amie Fuller tries to climb the wall alongside GB climber Holly Toothill and Alex Waterhouse. Skateboarder Lucy Adams, surfer Luke Dillon, boulderer Emily Phillips and lead World Champion Hamish McArthur, also join the pod to discuss how they got involved in their sports. Plus we hear from Breaking GB President Oliver ‘Hooch’ Whittle on what we can expect to see as breakdancing enters the Olympics in Paris 2024.
  • Michael Johnson
With twelve gold medals across the Olympic Games and World Championships, two decade long world records and a running style as familiar as his name, Michael Johnson has now turned his attention to the history of protest within sport. What should we expect of our athletes? What form of protest brings about most change? And as Mark Chapman asks - if he was competing today, would Michael himself be taking a stand against racial injustices? He discusses it all as his new podcast '“Defiance - A History of Protest in Sport' is released.
  • Inside The Games: Taekwondo
Eleanor Oldroyd and Jonathan Overend visit Bianca Walkden’s pizza restaurant in Liverpool and explore life after the Games as an Olympic medallist. Hear from Bianca and her fiancé Aaron Cook, double Olympic medallist Lutalo Muhammad, GB Taekwondo's Mahama Cho and Paralympic silver medallist Beth Munro. They discuss the GB Olympic and Paralympic success in Tokyo, domestic rivalries and the fast paced and changeable nature of the sport.
