    The Watches of Singer Reimagined

    10/10/2026 | 37 min
Singer Reimagined launched in 2017 with the Track1, a chronograph that puts the stopwatch at the center of the dial and moves the time to the edge. Nine years later, the brand makes a restored vintage chronograph, a time-only watch with its first proprietary movement, and two GMTs. Asher Rapkin and Gabe Reilly break Singer’s history into three chapters.

Chapter 1: The central chronograph era. Marco Borraccino, formerly head of design at Panerai, and Rob Dickinson of Singer Vehicle Design founded the brand around Agenhor’s AgenGraphe, a movement Singer helped bring into existence. We cover why an inverted chronograph is easier to read than a traditional one, the Flytrack and 1969 collections, and the Divetrack, the watch that made us want to carry the brand.

Chapter 2: The Heritage Collection. Singer applies its restomod approach to new old stock Valjoux chronograph movements, rebuilding and refinishing them for a conventional two-register chronograph. Then comes the three-register Valjoux 72 version, including a gold execution where the metal serves the design.

Chapter 3: Calibre 4. Singer’s four-barrel, six-day movement debuts in the time-only Caballero. It then powers the DualTrack, a GMT that rotates a 24-hour ring instead of adding a hand, and the new 1970 DualTrack, a 40mm steel sports watch on an integrated bracelet.

We close on Marco’s range as a designer: how a lineup that runs from a dive chronograph to a time-only watch still reads as one brand.

The Fears Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar

    09/09/2026 | 18 min
Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, managing director of Fears, and Lee Yuen Rapati, the brand's designer, sat down with Collective's head of content, Blake Buettner, at Geneva Watch Days to talk through the Fears Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar. It's the first time the show has focused on a single watch rather than a brand or collection, and for good reason: this is Fears' first perpetual calendar and their first high horology watch built entirely in-house, done within the Brunswick collection, the cushion-cased line that's synonymous with the brand.

Nicholas and Lee walk through how the watch came together: a five-year process that started as an offhand question in 2021, when Fears was a two-person operation, and nearly got shelved more than once before turning into a heavily modified Dubois Depraz movement (Fears' own 55115 designation) with a custom moonphase and leap year indicator. They also get into the design decisions behind the dial, including the "Silver Mink" finish, and the case engineering, built from dozens of 3D-printed prototypes, that keeps the watch at 10.1mm despite the added complication.

The conversation closes on positioning: unlike most perpetual calendars, this one is built for daily wear, with 50 meters of water resistance Nicholas has already tested by accident. It's the debut piece in Fears' new Eminence Collection, limited to around 25 watches a year, and marks a real departure from the $3,000 to $5,000 range that's defined the brand for a decade, a deliberate step into high complication territory that Nicholas and Lee both describe as building without compromise.

The Watches of Armin Strom with Claude Greisler – Co-founder and Master Watchmaker

    12/06/2026 | 31 min
This episode of The Watches Of goes deep on Armin Strom with co-founder and master watchmaker Claude Greisler. Recorded in person at Collective's Open House, the conversation traces how a brand built on a single conviction — that the movement, not the dial, should be the star of the watch — grew into one of the few genuinely in-house movement makers in independent Swiss watchmaking.

Greisler walks through his path into the craft: a Swiss German watchmaking family, eight and a half years of training across watchmaking, restoration, complications, and movement construction, and an early role developing a tourbillon at Christophe Claret. From there, he and co-founder Serge Michel took over the Armin Strom name and made the decision that defines the brand today — not to skeletonize old movements, but to engineer everything from the ground up. The result is what Armin Strom calls transparent mechanics: watches like the Gravity Equal Force and the System 78 collection designed open from the start, plus a re-engineered approach to resonance that uses a flexible suspension spring between two balance wheels instead of transmitting vibrations through the plates and bridges.

Whether you're new to Armin Strom or already deep in independent watchmaking, this is a rare chance to hear how high-end watches are actually conceived, engineered, and finished — straight from one of the people doing it. The Watches of Carl Suchy & Söhne

    30/01/2026 | 23 min
On this episode of The Watches Of Podcast, we dive into the history, design philosophy, and modern revival of Carl Suchy & Söhne, one of watchmaking’s most quietly fascinating names. Founded in 1822 and once a purveyor to the Austrian imperial court, the brand’s deep roots span pocket watches, clocks, and precision instruments—long before the wristwatch era. We explore how that legacy went dormant in the early 20th century, only to be thoughtfully revived in recent years, reconnecting Austrian watchmaking with its cultural and historical past.

We spend time unpacking what makes the modern Carl Suchy & Söhne collection so distinctive, from its grounding in Viennese Modernism to its balance of reduction, clarity, and emotional restraint. Watches like the Waltz, Vienna, and Belvedere collections show how geometry, proportion, and subtle motion can feel both timeless and contemporary—without slipping into cold minimalism. Along the way, we discuss how details such as dial textures, rotating elements, and unconventional date displays reward closer inspection and long-term ownership.

Finally, we talk about why Carl Suchy & Söhne feels like a brand with genuine terroir—a true sense of place. From Swiss-made watches powered by top-tier calibers to Austrian-made clocks that express the brand’s most avant-garde ideas, everything ties back to Vienna’s artistic and cultural identity. We reflect on why that clarity of purpose matters, how the clocks embody the brand’s philosophy in its purest form, and why this is a name that truly earns its reason to exist today.

    The Dive Watches of MING

    05/01/2026 | 20 min
On this episode, we take a deep dive into Ming’s dive watches and why they’ve become such a defining, and perhaps unexpected, part of the brand’s identity. Rather than treating the category as a checkbox, we talk about how Ming approached dive watches as a design problem—one that demanded its own language, priorities, and point of view within a genre that’s already crowded with icons and conventions.

We explore the brand’s evolution from early experimental concepts to more confident production models, focusing on how Ming gradually shifted from interpreting the dive watch through familiar tropes to creating dive watches that feel unmistakably its own. The conversation centers on restraint, proportion, and the idea of the dive watch as something closer to an art object than a purely utilitarian tool, without losing sight of what makes the category compelling in the first place.

Finally, we reflect on the modern era of Ming dive watches and what makes them resonate so strongly with collectors today. Compact dimensions, inventive engineering solutions, and distinct aesthetic identities come together to create watches that feel both thoughtful and original. As certain models reach the end of their run, we frame this moment as the close of an important chapter—one that shows how Ming didn’t just participate in the dive watch category, but quietly reshaped it on its own terms.
